The kids made elaborate plans for Father's Day, including our celebration standards: breakfast in bed, flowers, and dinner at Elmo's.
I dragged myself out of bed at 6:30 to make buttermilk waffles, which were served with strawberries and whipped cream (Norman declared them the best waffles he'd ever tasted). We brought them to Simon in bed along with coffee, a vase of flowers, and a musical card. After breakfast he was sent out to enjoy some flying time, which I'm sure was the most relaxing part of his day. The kids made an impromptu decision to play Monopoly next, which was set up and ready to go when Simon returned. Boo lost interest mid-game, while "Slum Lord" Norman was the eventual victor. We had a late lunch then headed to the pool. While this sounds relaxing, the kids expect Daddy to be their surfboard.
Simon did get a bit of a break though, playing ping-pong with Norman while Boo made multiple trips down the slide. We capped the day off with dinner at Elmo's, which is the only restaurant in town as far as the kids are concerned. A pretty full day, and one definitely best enjoyed by a father.
