Boo's second and third games of the season were also the second and third games of our family's four-game-week.
The Blue Lightning played their second game on Tuesday. They were soundly trounced (something like 5-15), but Boo had a very good game. Not only did she single both times at bat, but she also had a really nice play on the field. She caught a pop fly in the second inning, which is pretty amazing in itself. Then she listened to the coaches and ran to second base, forcing an out on the player who had already run to third (and didn't realize he couldn't advance on the caught ball). An unassisted double play! At first she wanted to know why all these people kept congratulating her, but eventually she realized she'd made a pretty special play. The ump offered her one of the game balls after the game, which I labeled with her accomplishment at her request. Boo's statistics: AB 4, H 3, 1B 3, BA .750, R 1, RBI 0.
Tonight's game was a tie, with both teams scoring their maximum five runs each inning. No spectacular plays this time, though she did manage to corral the ball in the infield a couple of times. Boo made it to bat three times, singling each time. She went on to score twice, and was left on base by the fifth run in her last at bat. Boo's statistics: AB 7, H 6, 1B 6, BA .857, R 3, RBI 0.
