Simon put the plastic eggs for our hunt outside early this morning, then made pancakes for breakfast. While we were eating, we noticed through the back window that one of the eggs was only half an egg -- it had been opened. When we started hunting, we discovered another empty egg that had a big chewed hole. Then we saw a squirrel sitting on the playset with a plastic egg in his mouth. He ran and I chased after him, waving one of the kid's plastic shovels which I'd grabbed near the sandbox. In his haste to get away from me, he eventually dropped the egg intact in the back woods.
Squirrel chewing/opening plastic eggs to get the candy inside, not unexpected. What was unexpected however, was that all three of the eggs were orange.
