Lea-Frances wanted to start her birthday with breakfast in bed. And not just any breakfast, but pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream (she made the same request in 2008, though we somehow avoided it in 2009).
This wouldn't have been so bad, except she had a 9:00 soccer game so our morning was a bit rushed. The teams finally got their jerseys, which was nice, and she played hard, which was even nicer.
Lea-Frances changed clothes after her soccer game, then we headed out to Learning Express to buy presents, and Elmo's Diner to eat lunch. As you can see, she was very pleased when she saw her dessert. Norman doesn't want a cherry on his sundae, so she usually asks for two - his and hers. Our waitress knew it was her birthday, and put FIVE cherries on her sundae.
She opened her presents after lunch; for some reason she wanted to do this on her bed. She'd given me some ideas at the store this morning, and was pleasantly surprised by the choices I'd made.
Can't forget the obligatory bow-on-forehead picture.
I took Norman to a 5:00 soccer game, while Lea-Frances ran errands with Daddy and picked up burritos at Cosmic Cantina. We were originally planning to go to Elmo's Diner for dinner (but changed it to lunch because of Norman's soccer game), so I didn't have a cake. She wanted a candle to blow out though, so I stuck a 7 in a lemon poppy seed muffin. He she is singing Happy Birthday (to herself), thinking of a wish, and blowing out the candle.
