Museum Madness

Both kids were at camps at the Museum of Life and Science for four of the past six weeks. I picked them up at 3:00, and we usually stuck around for another hour or more to explore. They love the camps at the museum, but also just checking out their favorite exhibits.

Norman especially likes building with the Keva blocks. Lately he's been creating boat fleets.





Boo likes walking through the Carolina Wildlife exhibit and saying hello to all the critters, especially the muskrat (she calls him Ottery).




Occasionally we wandered up to the Magic Wings Butterfly House, where the kids have had good luck catching butterflies recently.




The Flip It, Fold It, Figure It Out! exhibit is back at the museum. There's an origami area with on-screen instructions to fold a cicada, crane, bat, frog, or butterfly. The cicada, frog, and bat are the easiest (we have a small mountain of them at home now) -- Norman can make all three, though Boo needs a bit of adult help.



We discovered The Lab upstairs in the remodeled "Investigate Health!" area. The experiment changed every day, though the kids weren't always interested. Here they're learning about antacids using red cabbage juice as an indicator. Each group had a different antacid to try, theirs was baking soda.



Here they're learning about nanoparticles, including checking out some under a microscope.



Our museum membership is money well spent!
