Miss Bridget - trip post 2

When I was growing up, I remember calling all adults by their last name along with Mr/Mrs. Not sure if it's a southern thing, or a generation thing, but we introduce Norman and Lea-Frances to our adult friends using their first name along with Mr/Miss. Thus my college friend is Miss Bridget, as opposed to Ms Brennan. We met up with Miss Bridget and her kids a couple of times on our vacation, since they live fairly close to where we were staying.

On Thursday we met in Nottingham, PA, for a Herr's Snack Factory Tour. We couldn't take photos on the tour (might steal some trade secrets, you know), but Simon snapped a few out front after we ate lunch in their cafe. Hard to believe that Bridget and I have known each other for almost 25 years!

On Saturday we met at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. Here's a rare photo with all four of us, taken in the Main Fountain Garden (thanks Bridget!).

The Conservatory is HUGE. There are lots of separate garden areas, which each have their own theme and completely different types of plants.

This is called the Silver Garden, with lots of desert-type plants. A nice woman took a group photo for us in front of some very tall cacti.

The Waterlily Display is definitely a highlight. There are five large pools, with an incredible variety of water plants.

Boo thought the pod-like things looked pretty cool:

There are acres of outdoor gardens as well, where we strolled after we ate lunch in the cafe. It was an absolutely glorious day.

Lea-Frances found a Daddy Long-Legs which everyone admired. As you can see, the kids were pretty friendly by the end of the day. Norman is still telling us jokes he learned from Daniel.
