Camping in PA - trip post 1

We've stopped at the KOA in West Chester a couple of times on our way to Maine, but only stayed for a day. This year we decided to stay there for our entire vacation (well, almost). We spent a lot of our trip exploring the area, but still had time for some fun at the campground. Here are a couple of pictures of Lucy as we were getting settled in to our site:

Simon played mini golf with the kids one morning:

Then Norman and Lea-Frances horsed around by the course:

The Brandywine River runs beside the campground. They had canoes for rent, so we gave that a try in the afternoon. The kids think kayaking is easier since you don't have to switch sides with the paddle, but they enjoyed canoeing almost as much. The scenery was lovely - notice the horse in the field across the river.

We made s'mores for desert three times, because we all love them. Here's Norman toasting marshmallows after dinner, and Boo enjoying the sticky goodness:

The pools were too cold for me, but the kids took a quick dip in PA and another with Simon when we stopped in VA on the way home. We drove up in one day but it took us about eight hours, so we decided to take two days getting home.

The stopover had an extra perk, as the KOA in Fredericksburg had "fun bikes" for rent. The kids definitely think they're fun, especially Norman. Boo tried on her own a bit, then let Daddy take over the pedaling when her legs got tired.
