
We've seen the next bird on the ground a couple of times, hopping and scratching in the leaves. I'm pretty sure it's a Fox Sparrow, which winters in the SE.

The kids thought they saw the Fox Sparrow again over the weekend, but the bird they spotted had a long beak and more of an upright tail (like a wren). I didn't get a picture, but did get a good look through the binoculars with our bird book in hand. I'm almost positive it was a Brown Thrasher. That makes 20 species of birds we've seen and identified at our backyard feeders!
