Think Fast

The Firebirds, Norman's basketball team, had a game at 8:00 Saturday morning. They were soundly beaten by what appears to be the best team in their league (which just happens to have two of Coach K's grandsons on it). Still, it was a fun game to watch. I'm amazed at how "in to" the game the parents get; then again, it is basketball in NC.

Norman has a tendency to hang back instead of being in the fray, making it tough to get pictures of him playing. Simon did get pictures with him on the bench and in a huddle though.

He seemed less engaged than he was during the last game, but it turns out there was a reason: he got hit in the face by a ball not once, but twice. After the game we were teasing him about what he was going to do the next time a ball came flying at his face. He replied "duck". Correct answer: put your hands up and catch it! Ah well, as with soccer and baseball I don't care about him being a star; I just want him to have fun and instill a love of fitness.

Here's a shot of his battered lower lip later in the day.
