Bird Feeder

The kids made bird feeders from milk cartons ages ago which they hung from the awning on the screen porch out back. They didn't seem to attract any birds though, and we decided that perhaps the perches (toothpicks) were a bit small and wobbly. Boo and I ran some errands Saturday morning and wound up buying a bird feeder, one of the clear tubes with a bunch of perches. The box says it attracts finches, grosbeaks, woodpeckers, chickadees, and many other kinds of birds. Sounds about like what we have in our yard. Norman and I filled the feeder with a sunflower seed songbird blend on Sunday, and Simon hung it where the other feeders had been. No birds Sunday. No birds Monday. Birds Tuesday! There were a couple of wrens and a cardinal pair feeding this morning while we ate breakfast, and the tube was down about an inch of seed. It drizzled most of the morning, but the birds must have been eating anyway because it's down about three inches now.
