Across the road from the statue is the Broadgate Clock. When it strikes the hour you can see Lady Godiva ride past, with Peeping Tom appearing in the window to watch.

Boo was fascinated by the clock. Here she's watching Lady Godiva complete her ride as I snapped a picture of the double decker bus Norman was admiring. He wanted to ride one (on the top level of course), but we never got around to it.

We then walked to the Coventry Cathedral. The first structure was built during the late 14th century and early 15th century. It now stands ruined, bombed during the blitz on 14 November 1940 by the German Luftwaffe; only the tower, spire, and the outer wall survived. A new structure was built next to the remains of the old, and together the two buildings create one Cathedral with a message of reconciliation. I'm glad it wasn't bulldozed and built over, as it's pretty impressive to see the devastation.

At just under 300ft high, the Tower and Spire is the fourth largest in England. We climbed the 180+ steps of the tower, stopping about halfway up to look down on the bells. At this point Boo decided that she was afraid of heights, and had to be coaxed to climb the rest of the way up the spiral staricase. I am afraid of heights, but managed just fine (easy compared to the stairs in the Sienna bell tower where I wimped out years ago). Boo was pretty miserable at the top, so we didn't stay long.

I took pictures of the view in all directions, but the most dramatic is looking down on the cathedral ruins. The new building is to the left.

On our walk to the Cathedral we passed a street with taxis all lined up, which Norman thought was neat. It was hard to capture from the ground, but you can see it in this zoomed-in picture taken from the tower.
