Yesterday was the kindergarten's second themed country party, a Japanese Feast. Once again the class spent weeks learning about the country and preparing for the big event. The kids made saris to wear, plus lots of table decorations -- fish print placemats (using paint on a real frozen fish), cherry blossom trees, and clay Kokeshi Dolls. They sat on cushions at a low table, and ate with kid-friendly chop sticks.

The food was delicious (I ate a bit as well):
- Edamame
- Gyoza (Steamed Dumplings) with Plum Sauce
- Sushi Rice
- Chicken Yakitori
- California Roll
- Rainbow Sherbet with Pokey Sticks

The next country they study is England, culminating in an English Tea Party. I'm helping to plan/host that party, which should be a lot of fun.
