We put up a pole for our feeder this weekend, and since it has four hangers we added a second feeder for Nyjer seed. The birds flocked to them almost instantly. We've identified six bird species so far: red House Finch, yellow American Goldfinch, House/Carolina Wren (not sure which, but it's the bird that nests in our spider plants), Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Chickadee, and Northern Cardinal. The kids were distracted at breakfast watching and trying to identify the birds, which were out in full force. Lunchtime was fun too, though far less activity -- six goldfinches and a chickadee.

There's an empty suet feeder up as well, which we used a couple of years ago but gave up on because the squirrels kept removing it from the tree where it was hung. I'm going to fill it soon, hopefully tomorrow. Perhaps it will safe from the squirrels in its current location.
