Jack-O-Lanterns & Butterscotch

I had been hoping to take a weekend trip to Belvedere Plantation to get pumpkins like last year, but we've had too much going on to make that happen. We picked out pumpkins from Scott's Pumpkin Patch instead (the kids pointed out that it wasn't really a "patch" since the pumpkins were lined up in a parking lot, nowhere near where they were grown).

Simon did the cutting, but the kids drew the faces on the pumpkins themselves.

They scooped out the innards, with a bit of help from me removing stubborn stringy bits.

Here they are showing off their finished Jack-O-Lanterns, along with Butterscotch the horse. Butterscotch is Boo's class mascot; he and his journal go home with a different child in the class each weekend.

Butterscotch "helped" with the pumpkin carving, and included this picture in his journal when Boo wrote his entry for today.
