After physical exam, bloodwork, blood pressure, urinalysis, urine culture ... $430 in vet bills, Griffith has been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (the vet's nice way of saying renal failure). It's progressive and terminal; he could be alive for years, he might be dead in months. He's only turning 8 years old, so this pretty much sucks. From here on out the concern is trying to maintain his quality of life (at one point the vet said "treatment", then corrected herself and said "support"). The first step is special food that I picked up today, to try and keep his weight from decreasing and toxin levels from increasing. It may prove to be a challenge giving the cats separate food.

This is going to be hard on all of us -- cats, kids, and adults.
