Today's Random News

Here's a new picture of our hedgie-to-be. He's four weeks old now, and will be ready to leave his mother in another three weeks or so. I just purchased a big cage, wheel, plastic igloo, water bottle, shavings, dried mealworms... The kids can't wait for him to be here. I'm excited too, but also a bit apprehensive. I'm hoping he likes me, or our relationship could be rather prickly. (ba-dum-ching!)

Today was teacher conferences at school. As expected, they're both doing fine. Norman needs to work on focusing and following directions. Hmmm, sounds a lot like home. His teacher also gushed about how bright and creative he is. The goal is to channel that into success both in school and in life, rather than stifle it through conformity. This really reinforces our private school decision. As for Lea-Frances, "She is a solid student and a happy child." I guess she saves all her bossy/demanding/contrary behavior for home. ;-)

Norman also had his annual doctor's appointment today. He's 52.8" tall (90th percentile), 61.8 lbs (75th percentile), and fit as a fiddle. He decided against getting a flu shot, but agreed to try FluMist as he's old enough for that now. After the spray, you sniff and than swallow -- apparently "flu" doesn't taste very good.
