Franken-Thumb
Simon chopped his thumb at work last Friday when the locking mechanism on a lock-blade knife failed. He dithered a bit before we headed to Urgent Care then the ER (it was worse than Simon thought since he'd damaged the nail bed). After a couple of unpleasant hours, both for him and for the three of us waiting, he emerged with eight stitches. It was swaddled in gauze for the first few days and thus earned the nickname Thumby Mummy. For obvious reasons, we now refer to it as Franken-Thumb.
